ACT2Teach: Alternative Certification for Teachers
About ACT2Teach Exploring Teaching Getting Started Preparing to Teach Teaching Skills Assessment FAQ

affiliation with act2teach

We are actively looking for alternative certification programs with whom to develop an affiliate relationship with ACT2Teach.

What is an affiliate program?

An affiliate program is one that has established an agreement to in some way recognize completion of the TSAP and other instructional components in some formal way.

Examples of possible recognition:

  • Some college or university-based programs might agree to evaluate artifacts that a participant develops as a result of taking the TSAP and completing his/her Action Plan for possible academic credit.
  • Completion of the TSAP, the Action Plan, and the instructional Yes! Teach modules might be considered for academic credit.
  • Completion of the TSAP, the Action Plan, and the instructional Yes! Teach modules might be evaluated as meeting certain requirements within an alternative certification program (e.g., specific assignments within classes, specific first year portfolio artifacts, etc.)

What are the advantages of affiliation?

The short answer to this question is “recruitment.”

The ACT2Teach Web site was developed for military personnel with the idea that military persons around the globe who are nearing retirement from the military will have access to these resources to help them consider teaching and to prepare themselves to be outstanding candidates for teaching positions in the nation’s schools. The Web site is being promoted through a variety of means throughout military circles.

Affiliate programs will be allowed to post their program information on the Act2Teach Web site along with program information and links to your contacts. Military persons will be attracted to your program based upon their ability to begin immediately to work on professional development.

Consider:

  • Affiliation enables you to be highlighted to military personnel.
  • Those who have worked with this Web site are seriously interested in teaching.
  • They are self-motivated and interested in their own professional development.
  • You can know what their knowledge and strengths are as you begin working with them.
  • You can begin planning and working with them before they are on-site.
  • You can attract persons to your program and community who might not otherwise know about you.

How taking the TSAP and using the resources of the ACT2Teach Web site might be recognized by affiliate programs will vary significantly based upon programs. If you are interested in discussing possible affiliation, please e-mail us at ACT@eckerd.edu.

Take the TSAP!
